Abstract

Aim. This paper aims to identify research directions based on the analysis of publications on sustainable development in tourism and hospitality. Materials and methods. This paper involves a theoretical analysis of Russian and foreign publications indexed in foreign abstract and citation databases (Scopus, Web of Science), the Google Scholar web search engine, and the Russian Science Citation Index bibliographic database. Results. The results obtained show a lack of a unified approach to sustainable development in science. However, the main issues of sustainable development in tourism and hospitality include such aspects of tourist destinations and infrastructure as ecology, economics, society, geography, etc. Conclusion. Despite extensive coverage of sustainable development in Russian and foreign studies, there is a lack of unified methods for the assessment of the tourism and recreation prospects of certain areas in light of sustainable development. This provides a basis for comprehensive studies of sustainable development in tourism and hospitality in Russia.
