BAYESIAN NETWORK META-ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT EXERCISE REGIMENS ON ADIPOSE TISSUE METABOLISM IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC MICE
Abstract
Aim. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of various exercise regimens on the expression of key genes involved in adipose tissue metabolism in mice with type 2 diabetes. Materials and methods. A systematic search was conducted across international databases, including Web of Science. A Bayesian network meta-analysis was performed using Stata 16.0. The evaluated outcomes included expression levels of UCP-1, PGC-1α, PRDM-16, CIDEA, and the HOMA-IR index. Results. Twenty-four studies involving 526 mice were included. Physical exercise consistently enhanced the expression of thermogenic and metabolic genes. Long-term regular aerobic training produced the most pronounced increases in UCP-1 and PGC-1α, indicating enhanced mitochondrial activity. Swimming demonstrated the greatest effect on elevating PRDM-16 expression and reducing HOMA-IR, while high-intensity interval training had a greater impact on body weight. Conclusion. These findings confirm that long-term aerobic training, swimming, and high-intensity interval training serve as effective strategies for modulating adipose tissue metabolism and insulin resistance in mouse models of type 2 diabetes. The results contribute to a more profound understanding of exercise-induced adaptations in adipose tissue and provide a foundation for future preclinical research.
