Abstract

Aim. The paper aims to identify the effect of strength training on pelvic floor muscles in female weightlifters. Materials and methods. The paper represents a theoretical analysis of Russian and foreign scientific literature. Results. It was found that strength and speed-strength training contributed to the development of pelvic floor prolapse and enuresis in female athletes and negatively affected their athletic performance. Conclusion. Despite the well-known effect of strength and speed-strength training on the development of pelvic floor dysfunction there is a lack of prevention and rehabilitation programs to overcome these challenges. This urges the authors to search for new solutions of this problem.
