Abstract

Aim. The paper aims to evaluate the efficacy of the rehabilitation program after surgical reconstruction of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and the medial collateral ligament of the right lower limb. Materials and methods. This was a case study of a comprehensive stage-by-stage physical rehabilitation of a female badminton player after a rare knee injury and surgical intervention. Results. A comprehensive program of rehabilitation was developed, which included water rehabilitation therapy, kinesitherapy, kinesio taping and sports training arranged in accordance with athletic micro-, meso-, and macro-cycles. This program significantly reduced rehabilitation time and allowed the athlete to return to athletic performance. Such rehabilitation time is typical for less severe traumas such as anterior cruciate ligament rupture alone. Conclusion. Damage to the ligaments of the knee joint entails a significant reduction of its function and the quality of life in general. In most cases, surgical reconstruction restores the anatomical structure of the ligaments. However, the outcome of such reconstruction depends on many factors, including first of all rehabilitation measures.
