DEVELOPMENT OF COORDINATION IN YOUTH

Abstract

Aim. To reveal the essence and content of coordination abilities and to develop and test special exercises that affect the coordination abilities of various orientations and enhance the physical fitness of youth in Russia. Materials and methods. Coordination abilities were identified in 18–19-year-old male and female university students, 40 each, from the Arctic region during physical exercise following the V. Lyakh program. Results. Special exercises for the development of coordination abilities in university students of the Murmansk region consist of service and military exercises, including those related to the natural and climatic conditions of the Arctic region, and are aimed at overcoming various tasks and associated diffi­culties, e.g., interaction between thinking and movements in static/dynamic coordination that positively affects accuracy, speed, strength, agility, and endurance. Conclusion. The proposed set of exercises for the development of coordination abilities and their characteristics in youth, including special service and military exercises, stimulates and enhances the development of coordination abilities, physical fitness, and sports achievements in youth.
