Abstract

Aim. To systematically review and select methods for enhancing compensatory responses in the perceptual-motor complex of skilled blind five-a-side football players. Materials and methods. The study involved players from the Russian national five-a-side football (B1) team and its reserve. B1 field players are totally blind (n = 13), while goalkeepers are sighted (n = 5). The authors conducted a literature review, drawing on coaching experience (n = 6), and assessed coordination abilities among athletes. Results. The study revealed a significant gap in the development of coordination abilities between blind field players and sighted goalkeepers. A survey of trainers indicated that the development of compensatory responses in the perceptual-motor complex and coordination abilities are top priorities in athletes’ physical training. Based on research findings, the physical training methods for skilled players in five-a-side football (B1) were selected and systematized. Conclusion. During the development of adaptive and compensatory responses in blind football players, it is crucial to employ methods that enhance tactile and auditory perception, intermuscular coordination, postural balance, and “sense of time”. Subsequently, these skills should be consolidated through gaming activities.
