MODEL CHARACTERISTICS OF ATTACKING ACTIONS AT THE U19 WORLD FLOORBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
Abstract
Aim. This paper presents a comparative analysis of shooting skills among youth floorball national teams at the U19 World Floorball Championship and identifies patterns between attacking accuracy and final team rankings. Materials and methods. An analysis of competitive performance was conducted on 16 national teams at the U19 Floorball World Championship, held from April 29 to May 4, 2025, in Zurich, Switzerland. The study involved a detailed analysis of 36 tournament games, during which experts recorded 4105 attacking actions (shots and attempts on goal), of which 386 resulted in goals. The following parameters were recorded: total number of possessions for each team, distribution of shot attempts by accuracy categories (hit the post/crossbar, blocked shots, missed shots, shots on goal), and the number of goals. Mathematical and statistical analysis was applied to the empirical data to determine mean values, relative proportions, and attacking efficiency rates. Results. Analysis of the results showed that the championship medalists had significantly higher shot-on-goal accuracy than teams finishing in lower positions. Finland, the tournament champion, demonstrated an attacking efficiency of 14.93% with a shooting accuracy of 46.64%. The Czech Republic, the silver medalist, demonstrated high scoring efficiency – 14.24% with 45.14% accuracy. In contrast, teams placed 13th to 16th had substantially lower levels of both overall activity and attacking efficiency. A correlation was found between the number of shots on goal and a team's final standing, indicating the critical importance of attacking accuracy for success at elite-level competitions. Conclusion. The obtained data demonstrate the need to prioritize the development of shooting accuracy in junior floorball teams, as this component of competitive performance has the greatest impact on success at high-level international tournaments.
