MODERN TRENDS IN ROBOT-ASSISTED THERAPY IN ELITE SPORTS: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
Aim. This paper analyzes data from the scientific literature and identifies modern trends in the use of robot-assisted therapy among athletes. Materials and methods. This study provides a review of Russian and foreign research published in major electronic resources since 2021. Results. Robot-assisted therapy (RAT) for athletes following musculoskeletal injuries is an effective rehabilitation method most commonly used to restore function of the upper and lower extremities and trunk. The use of RAT in both passive and active modes enhances joint mobility, optimizes muscle strength, and improves circulation in the treated segments. When used for musculoskeletal recovery after intensive physical exertion, RAT normalizes arterial hemodynamics, optimizes muscle performance, and improves the statokinetic properties of the deep trunk muscles. RAT has great potential in preventing sports injuries through the targeted application of biofeedback to the neurophysiological mechanisms that regulate motor activity, as well as to the structural and functional characteristics of the muscular-ligamentous system. Conclusion. RAT is a promising direction in sports medicine with significant potential for rehabilitation, recovery, and performance enhancement.
