SPORT AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION AS A FETISH OF MODERN YOUTH

Keywords: sport, physical education, healthy lifestyle

Abstract

Aim. The paper aims to identify the subjective (evaluative-emotional, semantic) and objective (reflected in practice) attitude to sport and physical education among modern youth (on the example of the Voronezh region). Materials and methods. The study was based on the data obtained after the survey of university students (Voronezh State Institute of Physical Education, Voronezh State Medical University, Voronezh State Technical University) and a historiographical analysis of research over the past two years. The authors identified the respondents' attitude to sport as a health-enhancing activity or a fashion trend. A comprehensive system analysis was performed to interpret the results of the survey. Results. The study showed that sport was highly important for 91.53% of physical education students due to its connection with their future profession. For the majority of medical and engineering students, sports achievements themselves were not so important (winning a competition, getting a rank, setting a record), but their own pleasure. They also had other goals related to sports (material rewards, increasing popularity). In general, students were aware of the importance of sport/physical education as a means of health promotion, and this encouraged them to do regularly physical activities. Conclusion. University students are well aware of the great importance of sport/physical education in their lives. At the same time, sport/physical education are not just a fashion trend for young people.
