ASSOCIATION OF RENIN-ANGIOTENSIN-ALDOSTERONE SYSTEM GENE POLYMORPHISMS WITH HEMODYNAMIC PARAMETERS IN NORTHERN STUDENTS
Abstract
Aim. This study investigates the associations between gene polymorphisms of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and central hemodynamic parameters in university students aged 18–20 years from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. Materials and methods. The study involved 94 students aged 18–20 years. Molecular genetic analysis of AGT rs699 and rs4762 polymorphisms, AGTR1 rs5186 polymorphism, and CYP11B2 rs1799998 polymorphism was performed using real-time polymerase chain reaction on buccal epithelium samples. Hemodynamic parameters (systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean hemodynamic pressure, stroke index, cardiac index, and specific peripheral vascular resistance) were assessed using integral rheography. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance with the Scheffe post hoc test. Results. Statistically significant associations were identified between the AGT gene rs4762 polymorphism and increases in diastolic blood pressure by 7.5% (p = 0.014), mean pressure by 5.8% (p = 0.022), and peripheral vascular resistance by 13.5% (p = 0.003) in C-allele carriers, along with a decrease in stroke index by 11.3% (p = 0.001). The AGTR1 gene rs5186 polymorphism was associated with increases in diastolic blood pressure by 5.8% (p = 0.037) and peripheral resistance by 9.2% (p = 0.024) in C-allele carriers. Conclusion. Minor allele carriers show a tendency to develop a hypertensive hemodynamic type with elevated peripheral resistance, underscoring the importance of RAAS genetic profiling for early cardiovascular disease prevention in northern youth.
