Abstract

Aim. The paper aims to establish the need to diversify domestic tourism, to determine the main vectors of its development and to assess the indicators of achieving industry goals. Materials and methods. The following methods were used during the study: content analysis, analytical and sociological methods, statistical data analysis, an analysis of tourist activity, an assessment of the demand for domestic tourism services, as well as the monitoring of new types, attributes and tourism technologies. Results. It was revealed that the combination of such significant factors as “the speed of economic recovery” and “fundamental changes in tourist behavior due to quarantine restrictions” depended on the scenario of overcoming a critical situation. However, regardless of tourism industry development, systemic shifts that determine the need to diversify domestic tourism will be associated with new types, tourism formats and changes in the quality and attributes of travel. Conclusion. The diversification of domestic tourism will contribute to the further zoning of tourist areas, the emergence of new types, formats and attributes of tourism, an increase in travel availability throughout Russia, the improvement of tourism management, industry digitalization, etc. However, further synchronization of efforts with national projects and government programs is required.
