Abstract

Aim: this paper aims to analyze the electrophysiological determinants of brain metabolism based on constant potential levels and to assess their correlation with speed and endurance in university students. Materials and methods. The study involved 70 male medical students aged 18–20 years. Constant potentials were assessed at rest and under various types of exercise. Physical abilities were evaluated during GTO speed and endurance tests. Results. Based on GTO performance, participants were divided into two homogenous groups. Constant potential levels, recorded unipolarly in five leads (frontal (Fz), central (Cz), occipital (Oz), right temporal (Td), and left temporal (Ts)), demonstrated significant differences between groups during various types of exercise. Significant correlations (in both magnitude and direction) were observed between constant potential levels and sprint and middle-distance running performance within each group. Marked changes in constant potential levels were also observed across all leads (Fz, Сz, Oz, Td, Ts) under various types of exercise. Conclusion. Studying selected constant potential parameters and their correlations with speed and endurance performance may help physical education teachers and students select appropriate GTO standards and optimize training preparation.
